Marketing for Trade
Greetings from the Napa Valley – where we’ve just finished up a successful bloom and set. The new clusters look healthy and there’s not a lot of shatter, so we should be able to adjust the crop to the exact levels we’re looking for in each block – which doesn’t always happen
We’re delighted to announce three new releases for the summer – all very small lot wines crafted specifically for family and friends – including our mailing list members.
2014 Cabernet Franc “Melchior Kemper Vineyard” – we bottled a single barrel of 100% Cabernet Franc from the 2014 vintage – elegant and dry, the wine shows off the patrician aromatics and structure of this legendary Bordeaux varietal – a terrific accompaniment to grilled meats and sharp dry cheeses.
2017 Sauvignon Blanc “Sunninghill” – winemaker Diana Seysses often mentions the “cut” of our Sauvignon Blanc – always dry and combining fruit character and aromas with brisk acidity and a mineral hint of wet stone – grown at 800 feet of elevation in a single acre block, 117 cases made.
2017 Petit Verdot Rosé “Levi Philander Davis Vineyard” – we’re continuing to explore the surprising capabilities of our single acre Petit Verdot block – Diana drew on her considerable experience with rosé in Provence to craft this dry, summer rosé in the classic style – we produced just 70 cases from the 2017 vintage.
In addition to these new releases, we have four Cabernet Sauvignons available –
2015 “Brothers Vineyard” – available for direct purchase on a pre-release basis, the '15 Brothers won't go into distribution until this fall – “... a knockout wine ... Racy, powerful and voluptuous in the glass, with tons of textural resonance ...” – Vinous
2015 “Los Ricos Vineyard” – only two barrels produced, so this wine will never be commercially distributed – “...Explosive and dense, the 2015 is superb today. It will be even better in another few years ...” – Vinous
2015 “The Ranch” – the ’15 was just released for distribution on June first – “ ... soft, racy and absolutely delicious. Even with all of its natural intensity, the 2015 retains striking freshness and nuance ...” – Vinous
2008 Reserve – our first library release, the ‘08 has entered its prime but definitely hasn’t reached its peak – at release, Robert Parker remarked on "aromas of crème de cassis, burning embers, licorice and smoked herbs. It ratchets up the body, concentration and depth yet possesses silky smooth tannis and a forward style. This beauty should drink well for 15+ years."
